Swan Lake – DVD

„Swan Lake“ by Peter I. Tchaikovsky is the most famous ballet of all time. Since its world premiere at the Bolshoi Theatre in Moscow in 1877, there have been countless interpretations of this romantic fairy tale dance

2018 / 19 the Ballett am Rhein presents Martin Schläpfer’s version in which the Swiss choreographer uses his decidedly individual dance language – both physical and highly expressive at the same time – to devote himself to „all fascinating darkness, psychic secrets and archetypes“ and to transport us into a world „in which ghosts and the inexplicable are not yet considered fantasies

Martin Schläpfer, who has been awarded numerous renowned prizes, is today considered one of the most innovative and successful choreographers and ballet directors. In more than 70 works he has condensed his choreographic style into a completely individual and contemporary ballet aesthetic. In October 2018 he was honoured with the Order of Merit of the Federal Republic of Germany. In 2020 he will take up his post as director of the Vienna State Ballet
